These ancient Egyptian wonders have many tales and scientifical stories behind them.  Most don't know the truth about the great marvels.  They stand tall on the edge of the Giza plateau, and are among the talk of many of the modern Egytians and other people around the world.

As you draw closer to these treasured monuments you begin to question yourself if what you are seeing is trully in front of you. The biggest, Cheops, is the only wonder of the ancient world still standing. Built over 4000 years ago and for 43 long centuries the tallest thing on earth it could envelope the cathedrals of Florence, Milan, Westminster, St Paul's and St Peter's in Rome within its three massive walls. Oh lucky pharaoh who got such a tomb.

The pyramids, together with the sphinx, stand older than the oldest tree and as indifferent to the burning sky as the encroaching sand storm. As the old Arab proverb goes: Man fears time but time fears the pyramids.

The Pyramids of Giza are the most famous monuments of ancient Egypt.  These massive stone structures were built around 4500 years ago on a rocky desert plateau close to the Nile.  But the intriguing Egyptian pyramids were more than just tombs for kings.  The mysteries surrounding their symbolism, design and purpose have inspired passionate debate.  It is likely that many of these mysteries will never be solved...

This is a picture of the pyramid of Djoser which was the  first type of pryamid constructed.  This type of pyramid is called the step pyramid, which is named after its shape.
